Fraud Protection Enhanced with Texting Option

An important part of our commitment to our Members is to keep your personal information safe and your debit card protected. Our free fraud protection service will contact you if suspicious activity occurs on your CheckMate card, enabling you to either confirm the legitimacy of a transaction or stop a fraudulent one.

Our fraud protection service uses texting. Many of our Members have told us it’s easier and faster to respond to a text than it is to take a phone call, and we’re pleased to have this enhancement available. You won’t need to enroll or take any other action; you’ll simply receive a text if you’ve given us your text-capable number. Scroll to the bottom of this page to see samples of texts from the fraud protection service. All texts will be:

  • From the short code 37268
  • Free of charge
  • Sent between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m.

Of course, if texting isn’t your preference, you can opt out.

Please note that our fraud protection service has added a second phone number. Every text will include the number 877.273.5740, and you can call this number for assistance 24/7. If you already have the original fraud protection service number 877.253.8807 in your Contacts, it’s a great idea to add 877.273.5740. Both are valid phone numbers used to protect your card and answer any questions you may have.
